CULTURE & CONFINEMENT TIPS
Here are six ideas for you not to get bored, but also to cultivate your mind during this period of confinement … It’s a great opportunity, so don’t waste it! Movies, TV series, music, language, museum visits, or concerts, here are our suggestions.
THE TV SERIES EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT
Netflix & chill? Yes, but also Canal+ whose streaming platform is free during the confinement period, OCS, YouTube, re-runs on traditional broadcast television … There are plenty of choices for everything from Top Chef to Koh-Lanta. If you’re looking for a change of perspective, some feel-good shows are Master of None, The Good Place, BoJack Horseman, Rick and Morty, Parks and Recreation, Atypical, Archer or Fleabag. If you prefer some action, there’s
Chernobyl (not too far from reality right now), or use this time to finally catch up on Breaking Bad, Baron Noir, Narcos, True Detective, The Walking Dead, Westworld, Gomorra or Euphoria.
THE FILMS EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT
This is a great time to watch, or re-watch, the cinematic greats at home. For starters, there’s the multiple award-winning Parasite by Bong Joon Ho, or Fight Club by David Fincher, which is always worth watching. Bohemian Rhapsody by Bryan Singer is as poignant as it is fun. There’s Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, which has become a real classic. Other ideas are The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, or Green Book, set in the American South, by Peter Farrelly, which is both entertaining and a good history lesson of civil rights in the United States.
THE MUSEUMS YOU CAN VISIT FROM THE COMFORT OF HOME
Did you know that you can visit the world’s ten most spectacular museums from your couch? What an opportunity! With one click you can be transported to the MoMA or the MET in New York, the National Gallery in London, as well as the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, Versailles, the Frida Kahlo museum or the Chantilly Château… A dream come true!
arts and culture
For good vibes, check out the popular playlist from the Episod gym, known for the intense music that accompanies its classes.
If you’re looking to discover some new sounds, we’re crushing on Louis and The Yakuza’s new title “Solo,” The Weeknd’s “After Hours”, Childish Gambino’s “3.15.20” and Baxter Dury’s “The Night Chancers.”
CHEF’S RECIPES JUST A CLICK AWAY
Some big name chefs have gotten together to make sure that we aren’t facing a re-heated plate of pasta day after day! Fabrizio Cosso wants us to make homemade ravioli (and they are tastier than ever), chef Armand Arnal is proposing red rice with vegetables, while our dear Tookies Gambetta suggests a rustic apple tarte. Start heating your ovens!
WHY NOT USE THIS TIME TO LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE?
Let’s look forward to once the confinement is over and toward our future trips! This could be a great time to learn a few words of a foreign language every day. Arabic, Russian, Thai, Italian, Spanish, Breton or Swedish… The website Loecsen.com is offering free classes in several languages... Let’s get to work!
